Who
is CKA Associates?
We are a family of the easiest fund raising programs in the country today! It’s easy because there is absolutely no investment. To raise funds through this program, you collect empty ink jet and laser printer cartridges as well as digital cell phones. We pay you cash for the qualifying items that you collect. We even pay all of the expenses to ship them to us! That’s why the organizations participating in our programs think it’s great. It’s easy and the funds accumulate very quickly.
Who
can participate in this program?
Any organization wishing to raise funds may participate in this program. We currently have non-profit organizations, schools, school-related clubs and organizations, 4-H clubs, Girl and Boy Scout troops, YMCA and YWCA groups, church groups, animal welfare organizations, animal rescue groups, Humane Societies and other service groups using this program to raise funds.
Our primary programs are the “Kash for Kids” program with materials appropriate for young people, “Cash for Critters” with program material that is appropriate for Animal Welfare and Rescue groups, and “Recycleaid” programs, which assist fundraising efforts in the non-profit and corporate venue. CKA Associates reserves the right to refuse business at any time for any reason.
How
does the program work?
For your ink jet empties : We supply you with a postage paid collection box. When your box is full, you just pop it in the mail along with a completed form giving us your name, address, etc. (No postage is required, since we provide you with the postage paid label for your box.) Within 14 business days of receipt of your box, we’ll send you a check for the cartridges you’ve collected. It’s really that easy.
Please note: For larger orders of ink jets (30 cartridges or more at a time), we use the same procedures as we use to ship laser cartridges to help control our shipping costs.
For your laser empties : Place your laser cartridges in any corrugated box. We pay all shipping costs for your laser empties. All you need to do to produce your shipping label is to go to our website, www.ckarecycleaid.com/label.htm and click on the UPS logo. The payment process is the same for lasers and ink jets. Once we’ve received your empties – we send you a check.
For your Digital Cell Phones: Simply put them in a plastic bag to protect them from toner dust and ink and put them in the box of laser cartridges you’re shipping. Please DO NOT put cell phones in the small ink jet box. Cell phones that are mailed in our small ink jet box or mailer bags will receive $1.50 each.
How
much will I be paid for my empty cartridges?
We pay you up to $4 for each for ink jet cartridges, and up to $15 for your laser cartridges* (depending on the style) and up to $5 for each qualifying Digital Cell phone. Since the value of both ink jet and laser cartridges are very sensitive to market fluctuations, we do make occasional adjustments – both upward and downward – to the prices we pay and to the listings of cartridges we can accept. As soon as these adjustments are made, we make appropriate adjustments in our literature and we post new pricing on our website.
*Note: Prices are subject to change without notice.
When
will I be paid for the empty
cartridges we collect?
Payments are made by check within 14 business days after we receive
your shipment. Just remember that it can take up to five days
for us to receive your boxes.
What
cartridges do you accept?
For ink jet cartridges: There are over 150 different styles of ink jet cartridges being used today. Since we accept most of these styles, we find it easier to give you a list of the cartridges we do not accept. In fact, we’ve designed a two-page flyer to help you identify the cartridges we do not accept. A general rule for ink jet cartridges is that we only accept the styles, which can be recycled. That means that the cartridge will have some type of electronic circuitry (copper strips or visible electronic circuits) somewhere on the cartridge.
“Throwaway” styles are those, which do not have any circuitry and are not recyclable. We DO NOT accept any cartridges made by or for EPSON ink jet printers because all Epson ink jet cartridges are “throwaway styles.” We also do not accept certain obsolete cartridges, which cannot be sold due to their very small number of end users. If you find you have questions about a particular style, you can also consult our Cartridges We Don't Accept flyer to see the photos of the styles we do not accept. We will also identify each cartridge we are unable to accept from every order you send to help you sort through your cartridges before shipping future orders. An updated list of the cartridges we accept can be downloaded from our website.
For laser cartridges: We will provide you with a list by cartridge model # of all the laser cartridges we accept, along with the price we pay for each of these styles. This information is also available on our website.
NOTE: All pricing and listings of cartridges we accept
are subject to change without notice.
Where
will we find empty printer cartridges?
Fortunately, the answer is everywhere. There are 100 million
printers in use today with as many as 100 million more printers being
sold each year. And each of these printers uses 5-25 cartridges each
year. So you do the math. There are millions and millions of empty printer
cartridges being used each year - and most of them are now ending up
in landfills.
Today,
nearly 70% of all homes have a home computer. That means they also have
one or more printers. And nearly every kind of business and organization
you can think of uses printers. That's why we say empty cartridges
are just everywhere!
Note: Just remember to check our list of accepted cartridges for inkjets and lasers before you send us your empties. It helps to keep the costs of the program down and allows us to pay you for your empties.
How
do we store the cartridges as they
are collected?
For ink jet empties : The best way to store empty ink jets is in plastic bags. We provide zip loc bags when we send your collection boxes. You may use any type of zip loc or plastic bag in any size to protect the cartridges. Each cartridge does not need it’s own zip loc bag; put as many in the baggie as will fit comfortably.
For laser empties : Please remove lasers from their original box, wrap them in newspaper and combine as many as will fit in a larger shipping box. We suggest you send at least five per box or more if possible. Avoid sending OEM packaging and packing materials as this simply adds to the weight of your box. Note: Laser empties do not need to be placed in plastic bags.
How
do we let you know what cartridges we are
sending for payment?
In each collection box we provide for ink jet cartridges, you will find a “collection form.” This form will tell us your name, address, etc. and will accompany your box when your cartridges are counted. That’s how we will know how much to pay you and where to send your check. It is very important that the “Collection Form” accompany any box you send us, including the boxes you send with laser cartridges.
In case you lose your collection form or simply need more forms, click here to download our Collection Form PDF. Click on the “downloads” section and you’ll be able to print as many collection forms as you need.
What is the Vendor Number you ask for on the Collection Form?
Once we receive your first shipment of cartridges and/or cell phones, your organization is enrolled as an active participant in our program. At that time, you will be assigned a Vendor ID Number. This number will be printed on the top of your check stub as Vendor Number. It is important that you include this number with each shipment you send. Will
the empty ink jet cartridges have any ink in
them when they are collected?
Yes, it is likely that some of the cartridges you collect will have
small amounts of ink remaining in the cartridge. Since ink jet ink can
stain clothing or furniture, we recommend that you place the cartridges
in the plastic bags provided immediately upon receipt. That should keep
any small amounts of ink in the cartridges from leaking out. If you
get ink jet ink on your hands, common household bleach will remove it.
A
word of caution: Try to avoid sorting your empty cartridges on carpeting
or on upholstered furniture. Place old newspapers under the work area
when you are packing your boxes to avoid any spills causing stains on
furniture or fabric.
Does
it cost anything to participate in this program?
Unlike most fundraising programs, there is no investment required for your organization to participate in any of our programs. We supply nearly all the materials you’ll need for the program. We provide the collection boxes for your ink jet cartridges and we pay all the postage or shipping costs for you to send us your empties. You may want to make copies of some of our flyers or promotional materials and you’ll have to find a used box to ship us your laser empties – but those costs should be minimal.
Do
you provide any materials to promote
the
program?
Yes, you can download sample flyers and newsletter messages from our download section of our website. In addition, we shall be happy to email you a copy of our high-resolution logo to use on any materials you distribute. Remember, the more you promote the program – the more money you’ll raise. We also have available pre-paid mail envelopes to distribute. The mailer envelopes will hold several ink jet cartridges and are perfect to distribute in venues where there will be large number of people or through newsletter distributions.
How
long does the fundraiser last?
This fundraiser lasts as long as you want to keep earning cash for your organization. Many schools and organizations have had this program in place for several years. In fact, once their students or organization members become familiar with the program, the number of cartridges collected usually grows dramatically the longer you participate.
We collect cartridges year round, so you can send us cartridges any day of the year. The longer you participate in the program, the more money you’ll make for your school or organization.
Do you accept recycled cartridges?
Our program does not accept any cartridges that have already been recycled. Cartridges must have the original manufacturer’s label on it. Cartridges that state, “are compatible with…” are recycled. More than likely, if the cartridge does not have the OEM label on it, it’s recycled.
May we send you cell phones for payment?
Absolutely! We pay $5.00 for qualified camera phones, PDA's, Blackberries and Palm Pilots; $2.50 for qualified color screen phones and $1.50 for qualified black screen phones. Digital phones eligible for the program include flip phones and newer Nokia, Sony and Nextel flat phones only; PDA’s, Blackberries and Palm pilots are also eligible for the program. Please send only items that are in good working condition.
Do Not Send : Phones that are over five years old; phones that weigh more than 8 ounces and phones that are damaged (cracked screen, broken antenna, etc).
Do Not Send: accessories, chargers, books, holders, clips, etc.
A $1.00 handling fee will be charged for cell phones sent in prepaid mailer bags or prepaid inkjet cartridge boxes .
Why
do you want to pay for these empty ink jet
and laser printer cartridges?
Many people don’t realize that most printer cartridges – ink jet and laser – can be recycled. We use the empty cartridges we buy from you to refill and sell as low-cost “recycled cartridges”. This provides an opportunity for ink jet and laser cartridge buyers to save as much as 50% off the price of new OEM cartridges.
While it’s great that individuals and organizations can save money by using “recycled cartridges”, there is another important reason why this program works for everyone. Recycling the empty cartridges you collect helps to keep them out of our landfills. So not only is this program good for your school or organization – it’s good for the environment, too.
Why
should our group participate in this
particular fund raising program?
1)
It's one of the easiest fundraisers available today. All of our
programs have been designed to keep the administrative time to a minimum.
After you enroll in the program, your only administrative work will
be filling out a few lines on a collection form. We figure the less
time you need to spend on administration, the more time you'll have
to spend deciding what your organization will do with all the funds
you'll raise with this program.
2)
This program requires no investment! Many other fund raising programs
require you to purchase goods for re-sale. Not with our programs. You
won't need to make any investment. Just sign up and start collecting
empty cartridges - and we pay the costs for the program.
3)
There is absolutely no selling! What could be better than a fund
raising program that doesn't require anyone to go door-to-door selling
products your family and neighbors probably don't want or need. Our
programs are better! You collect items that would otherwise be thrown
away - and you help the environment in the process.
How
do we enroll in the program?
We've even made that easy -there are four different ways you can enroll
in our programs:
